2021 Greece Soccer Tour

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The 2021 Greece Soccer Scouting tour was a complete success. Together with USA Stars Academy, we were able to put together a productive soccer tour.
We completed multiple showcases in which some of our players were scouted and were invited to play by local professional clubs. Our younger players were able to experience soccer at a professional level and test themselves overseas, against a different kind of opposition.

Besides the soccer experience, players were able to experience the Greek landscape and culture.

Feel free to contact us for more information on dates and how to join our upcoming soccer tour.

“It was a great play by Elisha (Burbridge). He was really strong holding the ball up and he laid it off for Adrian who was running off of him,” said head coach Dave Blomquist. “It was a two-man interchange that was really insightful, and it was quite the banger from Adrian as well, so that was fun.”
Both Preciado and Burbridge entered the match as substitutes and had a noticeable impact, showing the depth of this Cougars roster.

After a thrilling 4-3 victory over Cal Poly Pomona, Azusa Pacific looked to continue their success against conference foes, Point Loma. The Cougars showed just how dangerous their attack can be as they defeated the Sea Lions 3-1.

Benji’s Season Comes to an End With a CONCA Champions Appearance

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Sporting Kansas City closed out the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League group stage with a 3-1 home win over Central FC of Trinidad at Children’s Mercy Park. Cameron Porter, Nansel Selbol and Connor Hallisey orchestrated the comeback for the MLS side after finishing the first half down by a goal.

Sporting, already eliminated from the competition after falling to the Vancouver Whitecaps, came close to scoring early on through Hallisey and Nuno Coelho. Still, it was the visitors who struck first through Jem Gordon. In the 43rd minute, Sean De Silva found the forward, who was kept onside by Ike Opara inside the box and buried the ball into the net.

The home side came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and were justly rewarded in the 49th minute. Porter outpaced the Central FC defense after collecting a long pass from Tomas Granitto, leveling the score with a low shot. Selbol scored the game-winner in the 55th minute after creating some space and shooting from outside the box. Hallisey would put it out of reach after converting his first goal for Sporting KC from the penalty spot in injury time.

With the result, Sporting Kansas City will finish in second place in Group C. The Whitecaps, who maintained a perfect record through the group stage, will move on to the next round of the competition.

A native of San Jose, California, Joya signed for Mexican powerhouse Santos Laguna in 2011 at age 18. He quickly progressed through the club’s youth ranks and made his Liga MX debut with the senior team in September 2012.

Santos Laguna loaned Joya to the Chicago Fire in 2014, where he started nine of 12 regular season appearances. The midfielder scored a goal just one minute into his MLS debut on March 9, coming off the bench in a 3-2 loss at Chivas USA. Joya spent most of 2015 and 2016 on loan at Club Necaxa in the Mexican second division.

At the international level, Joya featured extensively for the United States U-20s. He captained the side to a second-place finish at the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship and was a member of the U.S. squad at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

Acquisition: Sporting Kansas City (MLS) acquires midfielder Benji Joya on first-come, first-served basis.
